Newsgroup for Blogs for Hillary

Just a quick note:

We've created a newgroup/discussion forum for Blogs for Hillary. All BFH members are asked to check it out, please. This is where we will introduce new BFH members. Here, we will also discuss what our goals are for BFH in the coming months.

More to come!

Hillary Trails Against Unnamed Republican In 2008

Hillary Trails Against Unnamed Republican In 2008

Well, at this point, we know Dubya's not planning to lobby for a constitutional amendment that would allow him to run for a third term in office. At least we would hope he's not. Unless he feels the activist judges are ruining the country and God has told him it's his duty to run the country for 4 more years.

So, according to the Angus Centre for Public Opinion and Democracy, Americans would vote for an unknown, faceless, Republican before they voted for Senator Clinton. That's what America has come to. Narrow-minded Americans are willing to vote for something they don't know over something they don't like.

Clearly we have much work to do. Democrats have much work to do.

Electing a Successor for Terry McAuliffe

Democrats Meet as McAuliffe's Departure Nears:

Democratic National Chairman Terry McAuliffe is retiring after four years, and the party is beginning a process to elect a successor. With new strategies abounding, Democratic luminaries met this weekend in Orlando, Fla., to hear hopefuls that included former presidential candidate Howard Dean.

Listen to the NPR report. Learn about the 50 state strategy.

You're So Vain, I Bet You Think This Blog is About You

Well, it's nice to be here. I'm Genia from SistersTalk and I'll be one of the team bloggers for Blogs for Hillary.

First thing I'd like to mention is BFH is not an attempt to copy Blogs for Bush; we are so much more creative than that. The fella over there says we're copying his "success." Dude, You're so vain, I bet you think this blog is about you. Don't you? Don't you? Well it's not. The Blogs for Hillary effort is a counter to the nasty Blogs Against Hillary movement. We aim to provide positive information about Senator Clinton, supporting her as she represents the people of NY. In addition, we're hoping we can provide a central location to dispurse news and information about the Democratic party, help Senator Clinton with her re-election in 2006, and maybe (if she decides to run for president), help her with her efforts in 2008.

The Democratic party will need all the help it can get in the next 4 years. Let's see if we can get a boot up their &%#!@*. I promised I wouldn't swear as much on this blog. Oh the suffering!

Please, we'll need at least 4 more guest bloggers. You can blog on Hillary or you can blog on the Democratic party and what you would like to see the party accomplish. Email me at geniastevens@gmail.com or email blogsforhillary@gmail.com.

Tufts E-News -- Clinton: Rekindle the Peace Process

Tufts E-News -- Clinton: Rekindle the Peace Process

Clinton expressed her hopes that the Bush administration would take the death of Yasser Arafat as an opportunity to restart efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian crisis.

NYT played up Senator Clinton's negative rating ... [Media Matters for America]

In a December 5 "Political Memo" titled "Everyone Knows This Senator, and for 2008, That May Be Precisely the Trouble," New York Times reporter Raymond Hernandez cited Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-NY) negative poll ratings to assert that "she remains an extremely polarizing figure who is unable to sway these voters to her side." But Hernandez's report was misleading; President Bush, another politician "everyone knows," was recently reelected to the nation's highest office with nearly identical negative ratings.

I'm Not Sure About Hillary in 2008

Received from our newest member Shelley's Incoherent Ramblings:

The reasons I would like to be added to the Blogs For Hillary site is as follows:

1. I am appauled by the Blogs Against Hillary site. I think we spend way too much time bashing things and not enough time supporting the things we care about.

2. As a NYer, I voted for and support Hillary as a junior senator for my state. I have been highly impressed with what Hillary has done in her short time in office and look forward to what she will do in the future. As a social worker and a devoted democrat, I have also appreciated her dedication to many of the issues that I care about and that bring me out to the polls.

3. I will say, I am not at the point where I am supporting Hillary as a candidate for President in 2008. 2008 is just too far away right now and I am not willing to endorse one candidate over another at this point. I think she would make a strong candidate without a doubt, but I am not willing to say she should be THE candidate at this point.

Our response: Thank you for your honesty. Blogs for Hillary is for anyone who supports Senator Hillary Clinton. It doesn't necessarily mean you are endorsing her as a presidential candidate in 2008. This blogging effort is offered as a positive counter to the many anti-Hillary websites out there. We hope to continue to offer positive information about the Senator and about all the developments related to her political career. Maybe, by the time 2006 and 2008 come, we'll have gathered enough positive information that anyone interested in learning more about her will have something more than the anti-Hillary sites to work from.

Thanks again, and welcome to Blogs for Hillary.

In addition, we are still looking for regular BFH bloggers to join the BFH Team. You will post regulary here at BFH, providing news, updates, and commentary related to Senator Clinton and the Democratic party. Email us if you're interested.

Everyone Knows This Senator, and for 2008, That May Be Precisely the Trouble

The so-called Hillary haters became a harsh reality of political life for Mrs. Clinton when she ran for the Senate. Republicans built much of their campaign on trying to tap anti-Clinton sentiments in New York State.

No one factor accounts for the deep misgivings many voters express for Mrs. Clinton, but to some degree it stems from a view that has taken hold, fairly or not, that she is a hugely ambitious woman with a liberal agenda that was most significantly illustrated in her efforts to overhaul the nation's health care system during her husband's presidency.

If I Had Hillary Clinton's Ear...

Quoted from If I Had Hillary Clinton's Ear..., an editorial by Michael Slackman:

There are a lot of people, Democratic people to be sure, who want Mrs. Clinton to run for president in 2008. In a Gallup poll taken in November after the election, 25 percent of respondents chose her as their preferred Democratic candidate; John Kerry came in second at 15 percent.

It is a counterintuitive notion, that a party badly beaten by what many interpreted as a rejection of liberal political values, would endorse a woman who has come to embody those very liberal ideals.

But some Democratic political operatives say it could work. The theory, said David Axelrod, a Democratic political consultant based in Chicago, is that while a polarizing figure like Mrs. Clinton may motivate the opposition, she could also expand the Democrats' base. "If you accept the premise that we are a polarized country then part of the challenge is to maximize your base," Mr. Axelrod said. "I think she, as much as anybody, is in a position to do that."

New Bill Trains Teachers to Handle Disruptive Students

Senator Clinton's recent work in NY:

It also aims to provide training for both special education and general education teachers to learn how to better manage disruptive students.

Lawmakers tried unsuccessfully for years to change the law, but the bill finally moved through Congress last week by an overwhelming margin.

The changes are designed to deal with the growing numbers of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the number of prescriptions written for medication to treat ADHD has increased 500 percent since 1991.

Clinton worked on the measure with Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.

Thanks to SistersTalk

A big thank you to Genia at SistersTalk for providing us with free ad space on her blog to promote our efforts. She said, "While I didn't appreciate some of Mr. Clinton's views I am indeed a fan of Hillary Clinton's. I wish Blogs for Hillary well."

SistersTalk has become our first official BFH member.

Thank you!

Building Blogs for Hillary

BFH started December 3, 2004. As we build this collaborative effort, we would appreciate any feedback about how to make the BFH effort effective and productive.

We're considering adding a message board, but we find those can become time consuming as there's always a need for a moderator.

We've started registering BFH in all the major blog search engines and will soon solicit popular liberal and progressive blogs/bloggers for their membership.

Please, don't be afraid to be the first to join. Someone always has to be first. That usually gets the ball rolling.

Hillary Clinton, the Future of the Democratic Party?

Senator Clinton is a favorite in the Democratic party. Republicans seem to be really bothered by this. Is Hillary Clinton the answer for rejuvenating the Democratic party?
Even as President Bush was declaring victory and John Kerry conceded defeat yesterday, news agencies in the U.S. and around the world began splashing the name of Hillary Clinton as the future of the Democratic Party.

The New York Sun proclaimed: "It's Ka-ching for Hillary." The Sydney Morning Herald reported: "Watch out, here comes Clinton."

And Mac McLarty, former chief of staff for President Bill Clinton, said on the Fox News Channel that Hillary was easily the front-runner for 2008, calling her "formidable."

This is what has the GOP in an uproar and has sparked the flourish of anti-Hillary blogs in the blogosphere.

Hannity Starts Hillary Watch

Sean Hannity, of The Sean Hannity Show, launched "Hillary Watch" on November 3, stating Senator Clinton was "one Democrat that is as happy as can be" that Senator John Kerry lost the election.

Hannity stated on the October 27 edition of his show:

HANNITY: We gotta begin our "Hillary Watch" segment because she's next. We're gonna start counting it down the day after Election Day. [audio clip of Hillary Clinton: "I am sick and tired ..."] Oh, stop. I can't -- please stop. There's only so much abuse I can handle in a day.
